How to Shine Even When the Sun Doesn't?
OUR WINTER BEAUTY PLAN
Cold, windy, unsightly... the winter weather is harsh on our skin, which tends to become dull, dry and sometimes itchy. Give your beauty regimen a boost and follow our tips to give your skin the extra care it needs to keep it glowing all season long!
Dress for Success
COVER UP!
First of all, wrap up warmly to protect skin and ensure proper blood circulation; get used to wearing a scarf and gloves. Apply a rich hand cream before going out, such as the Shea Butter Intensive Hand Balm, and cover your hands to ensure that it soaks into the skin. Avoid being exposed to extreme temperatures and remember that dry heat inside also takes its toll on delicate skin.
Sleeping Beauty
REJUVENATE YOUR BODY
At night, your body recovers from external aggressions it suffered during the day. The ideal sleep time differs from person to person, but your average should be around 7 or 8 hours every night. For adequate sleep, be sure to create a peaceful atmosphere in your bedroom. You can also use our Relaxing Pillow Mist for a soothing sensation of well-being.
Be Sun-Savvy
DON'T OVERLOOK SUN PROTECTION
Winter sun can be as damaging as summer sun for the skin, so don’t forget to protect your face. The easiest way is to apply a moisturiser cream containing SPF every day, even in the winter, especially if you’re going skiing or spending a lot of time outdoors. For a natural glow, try Immortelle Precious Cream.
Healthy Foods
A HEALTHY WINTER DIET
A healthy diet is important in winter, even more than the rest of the year. Sufficient vitamin C intake will not only boost your immune system, but also help your skin look radiant by supporting the production of collagen and limiting cells' ageing, as it is a strong antioxidant. Pepper, parsley, kiwi, citruses, and all fresh fruits and vegetables, you've got a choice! Omega-3 (which can be found in fatty fish, nuts, flaxseed, and rapeseed oil...) also participates in making the skin smoother and more supple.
Although we generally tend to drink less water in the winter, our body needs hydration, so don't forget to drink up. As cold beverages might seem less appealing, you can try warm water with lemon, or tea.
Be Gentle with your Skin
ADAPT YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE
In winter, the air is dryer and tends to strip away the skin's hydration, that's why increased moisture and gentler products with natural ingredients are the main requirements. You may change your lotion to a cream, your powder foundation to a liquid one and swap your regular cleanser for a foaming or milk-based one ( Cleansing Milk is one of our faves!). To boost efficacy and hydration, add an anti-aging serum to your routine, before the cream.
Treat your Body with Love
MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE, MOISTURISE
Take shorter, lukewarm showers and avoid very hot water as it compromises your skin's lipid layer. Finely ground oats added to your bathwater will work wonders to relieve and soften itchy or irritated skin. They can also act as a gentle exfoliant, perfect for the winter months.
Last but not least, moisturise regularly, right after you wash, on slightly damp skin. Depending on how dry your skin is, you may choose Shea Butter Ultra Light Body Cream or Ultra Rich Body Cream.
