A RENOWNED LABEL
Fine lavender from Haute-Provence - Lavandula angustifolia - is protected by a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin), which guarantees the quality and traceability of the essential oil. To qualify for this label, lavender must grow at an altitude over 800m, within a specific geographic area; and be distilled using traditional methods.
OUR ENGAGEMENTS
L'OCCITANE supports the local supply chain by sourcing its supplies directly from producers and distillers, through pluriannual contracts guaranteeing minimum prices and volumes. We thus commit to the respect of historical savoir-faire and expertise.
A CHALLENGE TO TAKE UP
Preserving the cultivation of fine lavender on the plateaux of Haute-Provence is key to maintain biodiversity; as well as to develop agricultural land and dry, stony mountain areas. It is a major challenge for the sector and for the territory, that L'OCCITANE takes up through its activities.
